About

How does it work?

We all love playing table tennis, but many of us prefer not to commit to a regular team, we also like to shake things up a bit, play different people, and socialise a little more. To this end we run a Singles League format that's competitive but with several differences to a traditional league:

Season

This summer we are running 2 distinct seasons, 11th April > 27th June AND 11th July > 26th Sept.

No weekly commitment

You choose when you play, you can play in as many events as you wish.
We can do this because the league functions off a variation of the Table Tennis England ranking points system.

Ranking Points

You will be entered into a band most appropriate for your standard of play, and then every time you register you will play people in the same band ensuring good competitive games for all. Each time you win you'll get points and if you lose, then you lose points, making it possible for improving players to play a higher standard each week and also ensuring that all games are kept competitive.

Prizes

We are giving away prizes in the form of vouchers from our sponsor. Furthermore the prizes have been created so that everyone has a chance to win something, whether you play once or ten times; whether you are div 1 standard or just a social player.

Open to everyone

No requirement to be a member of BATTS to play in this league. It is open to anyone from any club or league. We welcome and encourage the promotion of this league outside the area to attract different people for you to play.

All standards

The league also caters for all standards of play, so no matter what standard you are, there is likely to be others of similar standard, ensuring a balanced/competitive game for all.

It's a singles league

You are only playing for yourself, so no ringing around trying to get a team together; you turn up and it's all down to how you play on the night.

How to enter

To enter is easy; you signup online. It is a simple process, requires you have an email address for confirmation and takes only a few minutes. No phone calls required. Signup online and turn up on the evening ready to play. Entries are accepted up to 8 hours before the event, so signup before 11am on the morning of the event and you can still play, subject to availability. Maximum of 48 competitors per event.

What does it cost?

We make a small charge for each event you enter.

Payment is taken upon arrival.

What do you get for your money?

Every entrant has a genuine chance to win a prize, because the prizes are designed that way. There will be prizes for the top players, who battle it out for the number one spot, there are prizes for lower division and social players, prizes for best win, prizes which reward those who enter regularly, and prizes for those who play once. Everyone has a chance to win something.

Each player guaranteed 5 games per night.

Games are played 11-up best of 3 sets, there are no knockouts, everyone gets equal amount of games.
